Summit Lake Ski Hill

Club Races at Summit Lake brought out 96 racers to test their metal on the ski, snowboard or telemark course last Saturday, but in an incredibly unfortunate turn of events, only 13 young athletes were able to race on the Beginner course.

Electrical problems with the T-bar stymied the ambitions of all other racers, whose enthusiasm kept them waiting patiently for most of the day while volunteeer board members and employees toiled on the wayward machinery to no avail. As of press time, they are still attempting to resolve the T-bar's issues.

Making the most of the beautiful, sunny day, organizers hosted the Beginner's race on the Spooky Trails handle tow.

Skye Cunningham was 1st place in girls' skiing, with Katira Niquidet and Jewelle Alaric coming in 2nd and 3rd; 4 year old Kiley Waterfield recieved an honourable mention. In boys' ski racing, Quade Nicholson-Chodat took 1st place, with Frank Moroz and Jesse Katchen coming in 2nd and 3rd; Garrett Waterfield and Jerobi Tupper, also 4 years old, both received honourable mention.

In beginners' snowboard action, Kory-Lynn Crosby placed 1st in the girls' race and Cameron MacPherson took 1st in the boys' race, with Ryan Alaric and Quade Nicholson-Chodat placing 2nd and 3rd respectively.
